An original ready-to-drink coffee line.

RITUAL COFFEE ROASTERS

We worked closely with the folks at Ritual to make their dream of a ready-to-drink line a reality. After designing their iconic logo mark back in 2005 and their coffee packaging over the years, we were thrilled when they came to us to develop a creative concept for their line of cold brews. Ritual is a true and bonafide San Francisco Original and so creating this new line had to remain as irreverant as their brand.

Designs inspired by unique San Francisco neighborhoods.

Each drink is inspired by a SF neighborhood where Ritual has a presence, like the Mission District, where its flagship coffee shop remains or South of Market (SOMA), where to this day, they still roast their beans. We developed whimsical scenes, pulling together both recognizable landmarks as well as hidden easter eggs that only locals would remember or know. We wanted to delight someone who'd never been to the city and give a knowing nod to those who've been here for decades. The result is a magical blend of old and new in a slightly nostalgic, psychedelic style.

Finding a local artist to bring our concepts to life with whimsical illustrations.

Everything about this project had to be true to SF; we found an immensely talented illustrator, Galine, who's rooted in the city, and tasked her with putting our ideas to pen and paper. Her style was perfect for capturing and blending all the elements we wanted while remaining graphic and punchy for packaging. We took her artwork, punched up the colors, adjusted the layout to accommodate all the functional bits for print, and sent it off to production.

The result has been fun to experience, and we couldn't be more thrilled. When the product line debuted at SF Coffee Fest, it was clear that there was nothing else like it, and we were overwhelmed with how much love it received. Like Ritual itself, these ready-to-drinks are a San Francisco original.
